A year ago today famous Chicago Blues Guitarist Hubert Simlin was called home.
Rolling Stone magazine listed Hubert Simlin as #43 on their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of all time, while Dean SHot
says, "Meeting Hubert was a dream come true for me..."
The photo above is of a young Dean SHot (back left) with Hubert Simlin. The photo was taken back in 1998 in place called Merrigans in Roseland, New Jersey. Shot says that Merrigans is no longer there yet the memory of that night for Dean has stayed with him ever since.
Dean relayed, "...getting to know him personally and play with him for the years I did was an honor and a privelage that words cannot properly express. He was a mentor to me ...and like a musical father. I wouldn't even begin to view music and life the way I do if it was not for Hubert. He kept it real with me...and shared things with me that I carry with me every moment. Hubert was an artist of and from the soul.
Dean recalls from his time with Hubert with a deep reverence, "... that, He taught me the importance of having your own unique relationship with music, your instrument and ultimately the world".
